About Queenstown
Queenstown was Singapore's first satellite town. It was named in 1953 to mark Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, and the first flats were built by the Singapore Improvement Trust before HDB took over in 1960.
Many of its early blocks have since been redeveloped. Dawson's newer HDB projects and condos such as Commonwealth Towers, Stirling Residences and Margaret Ville now stand beside older estates.
The town also covers Dover, one-north and Pasir Panjang, where low-rise freehold condos from the 1980s and 1990s sit beside newer projects.
